Week 2: Provo MTC
HELLO EVERYBODY!!
Today is my second day at the Provo MTC and also my PDay so I get to update you all super soon into my mtc experience.
This place is AMAZING, I don't even know where to start because there's so many great things I've been able to experience already. To you elders on this list who left before me and didn't get the chance to go to the provo mtc, I'm sorry for you but DON'T WORRY because I'll tell you all about it (;
One of the things that you notice when you first get here is that there is so much love. Everyone has a love for each other and a love for this work, and it is a palatable feeling when you walk into the mtc. It's so great to be in that environment because as I learn more and more, my purpose as a missionary is centered on love. Love for my Heavenly Father as I surrender my will to Him and love for His children as I introduce them to the blessing of the gospel.
The missionary schedule so far has been a combination of complete exhaustion but also complete fulfillment. Sometimes I'll look at the time and realize that we don't go to bed for a few more hours and I'll wonder how I'm going to get through. But our time here is used so well. We learn so much and our testimony is constantly being strengthened. And the support that I've been able to feel from my Heavenly Father is amazing. I've been able to push myself SO much further than I ever could on my own.
Last week after our devotional our district talked about an idea that I really loved. One of the sisters said that God won't ever give us a trial that we can't handle. But then we discussed how that's only true in a sense. God will allow us to experience trials that we can't get through, at least not on our own. We'll have to turn to him.
"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30
Through Christ, we not only have the power to overcome, but also to become. As we come closer to him, rely on him him become more like him we can become a better version of ourselves.
I need this power constantly as I try to become an effective missionary. It has blessed me so much. Heavenly Father wants to support you in all of your righteous pursuits, so TURN TO HIM. Let him pour out his love to you. Ask what his will is for you and then look for his guidance and love.
Anyway, things are so good here. I have an amazing district and God definitely knew what he was doing when he paired me with my companion, she is so awesome and compliments me so well. I'm so glad that I get to learn and grow here with them.
I love you all so much and I hope you have a fantastic week!
